Chronic Pain Management

At Flex Physio & Wellness, we provide Chronic Pain Management Physiotherapy that is focused on helping you move better, feel safer in your body, and get back to daily life in Grande Prairie. Chronic pain is pain that lasts longer than normal healing time, usually more than three months, and it can affect sleep, mood, energy, and confidence with movement. It may come from arthritis, back or neck conditions, old injuries, nerve irritation, or a combination of factors. Our goal is to reduce the intensity and frequency of pain while improving what you can do each day.

Your first assessment includes a detailed conversation about your symptoms, health history, work demands, stress, sleep, and activity levels. We complete a physical exam to check strength, flexibility, joint movement, balance, and how your nervous system responds to movement and load. We also identify patterns that flare your pain and factors that calm it down so your plan is specific and realistic. You will leave with a clear understanding of what is contributing to your pain and what steps come next.

Treatment may include manual therapy, guided exercise progressions, pacing strategies, and pain education based on current evidence. We may also use heat, ice, or electrical stimulation when appropriate to help settle symptoms and support movement. Your home program is simple and practical, with updates at each visit so you keep progressing without feeling overwhelmed. Care is active and collaborative, not passive, so you can build long-term control instead of relying on short-term relief alone.

Most patients can expect gradual, steady improvement rather than a single quick fix, especially when pain has been present for a long time. We track meaningful outcomes like walking tolerance, sleep quality, ability to work, and confidence with everyday tasks. If your case involves a workplace injury or motor vehicle claim, we can coordinate documentation and billing pathways where applicable. Direct billing is available for many extended health plans, and our team will help you understand your coverage options.
